The Harvest Principle
Today’s seeds are tomorrow’s harvest. – Ref. I Kings 17:12-14
Five Laws of the Harvest
1. Seedtime and harvest
a. Before you can have a golden wheat field, what has to happen?
b. What did God say to us in Genesis 8:22?
2. Sowing and reaping
– Read Galatians 6:7.
i. How does what we do, or not do, change God or this law?
ii. When we sow good seeds, what happens?
iii. When we sow bad seeds, what happens?
iv. If we have been sowing bad seeds, what should we do to get a good harvest?
Ponder on this: “Everything starts with a seed.”
a. What seeds have you been planting that are good seeds economically?
b. Why does every person need to give? What is our need for giving? What does giving do for us? “Giving is planting a seed at the point of our need.”
3. The Lord of the harvest
i. According to 2 Corinthians 9:10-11, what is it that God does?
ii. Who is your source?
iii. Who owns it all? (Psalm 50:10; Haggai 2:8)
iv. Who is it that gives the increase?
4. Proportion and return
i. What do you learn from 2 Corinthians 9:6?
ii. In Proverbs 3:9-10, why are we told to bring the first fruit off the top? If we do not give God the first tenth, what do we usually give Him?
iii. What kind of seed would you want to plant to get the best crop if you were a farmer?
5. Multiplication
The Bible says, “To whom much is given, much will be required.”
i. How does that apply to us as a church?
ii. Have someone share their experience with sowing seed and reaping a harvest.
The seeds you sow today are tomorrow’s harvest. Be careful how you sow!
